    Charlotte Colbert is known for her surreal and dark imagery.

    She has been described as “a truly original visual storyteller her images are hauntingly evocative” by Laura Bailey in Vogue. and has been likened to the surreal work of Toomer, Breton and Dali

    Her 2013 show at Gazelli Art House titled A Day At Home was nominated 'exhibition of the month' by Black and White Photography Magazine and described in the Huffington Post as "surreal meditation on domesticity and self-destruction" and "a gateway into dreams"

    Her work has been shown at International Art Fairs including in 2014 Istanbul Art Fair and Art Basel Hong Kong and in 2015 and 2016 at "Photo London" in Somerset House.

    In 2014 she was commissioned to do a public display on Piccadilly for the occasion of Frieze Art fair. The series, entitled "In and Out Of Space" rendered affectionate to Stanley Kubrick for the fifteenth anniversary of his death.

    Sculpture

    Charlotte Colbert's large-scale screen sculptures, made of corten metal and fitted with slick TV screens which display black and white moving image footage were described as forming a contemporary and new approach to portraiture. She did a 3 meter video sculpture featuring actress and model Lily Cole, "Mother and Child" which was shown alongside works by Rachel Whiteread, Nancy Spero, Rebecca Allen and Elizabeth Murray.

    Film

    Colbert did an MA in screenwriting at the London Film School.

    In 2016 she wrote and directed The Silent Man with Sophie Kennedy-Clark, Simon Amstell, Ben Miller, and a surreal cameo by Cillian Murphy which was described by ID as " One of the most surreal shorts we've ever seen".

    In 2013 she collaborated with Charlie Fink from Noah and the Whale and co-wrote his short film Heart of Nowhere which was produced by Parkville Pictures and Universal Records.

    Colbert also co-wrote feature film Leave to Remain, which features a score by Alt-J and Toby Jones as the lead. The film premiered in 2013 at the BFI Film Festival and won Best Youth Film at "Buff Film festival" and best debut feature at "Zlin Film Festival".

    In 2009 she wrote and directed "The Girl With Liquid Eyes" a short film featuring the voice of Maryam d'Abo and in 2011 followed up with a short sequel film, "The Man With The Stolen Heart" with Bill Nighy as the narrator.

    Publishing

    Colbert was one of the editors of The Artists’ Coloring Book of ABCs which features works by leading artists such as Grayson Perry, Tracey Emin and Marc Quinn
