Cartosat-2E is seventh of Cartosat series of Earth observation satellites to be deployed in sun-synchronous orbit. Its main purpose is to collect high resolution large-scale maps which will be used for urban planning, infrastructure development, utilities planning and traffic management. An amount of ₹ 160 Crore has been allocated for the project. The satellite is expected to be launched in December, 2017.
Payloads
The satellite carries a panchromatic (PAN) camera capable of taking black-and-white pictures in the visible region of electromagnetic spectrum. It also carries a High-Resolution Multi-Spectral which is a type of optical imager. The satellite would have spatial resolution of 0.6 metres.
