The only child of a housewife mother and retiree father, Wong graduated in 2014 with a Diploma course in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Nanyang Polytechnic, and it was during her final year when she made it to one of the top three contestants in Hey Gorgeous in 2013.

Wong was chosen as one of the six contestants for the Preliminary Rounds of Hey Gorgeous. As the only girl contestant from Nanyang Polytechnic, she successfully made it into the Semi-Finals, followed by the Finals. Having emerged as Second Runner-Up, behind Winner and fellow Nanyang Polytechnic student, Alfred Low. In January 2014, Wong officially signed on to MediaCorp as a full-time artiste.
