Carleton Parish is defined in the Territorial Division Act as being bounded:
Westerly by the eastern line of lot no. 124, granted to F.J. Richard, in block ten, range eight; its southern prolongation to the Saint-Louis Parish line; and its northern prolongation to the County line; south by Saint-Louis Parish; northwest by the County line; and east by the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, including the islands in front.References
