Caren Kaye (born March 12, 1951) is an American television and film actress who has appeared in dozens of films and guest starred in many TV series. She attended Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Ph.D. in Psychology. She is best known for her roles in the 1983 film My Tutor and the short-lived NBC situation comedy It's Your Move.

Career

Kaye was born in New York City. In the early-1970s, she studied and practiced the improvisational games created by Viola Spolin. Caren became one of the founding members of WAR BABIES Improvisational Theater Company. WAR BABIES started at the Focus Coffee House on 74th and Amsterdam in NYC, where it soon became one to the country's premiere improv companies. After several years in New York, the company was brought to California to work with Dick Clark Productions. They set up weekly shows at the Cast Theater in Hollywood and became part of the breakthrough group of improvisational companies in California in the 1970s and 1980s, winning critical acclaim and theater and television awards. Members worked steadily in television, movies and on stage while using WAR BABIES as a home base to hone their skills and perform for countless audiences. After almost fifteen years, WAR BABIES official disbanded and remained friends.

One of her initial acting assignments was in a United States Navy educational film, portraying a young woman undergoing basic training. Throughout the mid-1970s, she made guest appearances in episodes of the television show "Alice.", The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, and the NBC situation comedy The Practice. She was a regular in the cast of the ABC situation comedy Blansky's Beauties, a spin-off of Happy Days which aired from February to June 1977.

Her film credits include Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), Cuba Crossing (1980), Some Kind of Hero (1982), My Tutor (1983), Teen Witch (1989) and Satan's Princess (1990).

In 1984, Kaye co-starred as the mother of Jason Bateman and girlfriend of David Garrison in the teen comedy It's Your Move on NBC. The series lasted only one season.

She was featured in 10 episodes of The Love Boat television series, and has guest-starred in such other series as 21 Jump Street, Mr. Belvedere, Fantasy Island, Simon & Simon, Matt Houston, Taxi and Murder, She Wrote.
