Biography

Crane was born on November 27, 1827, in Huron County, Ohio. He was raised in Erie County, Ohio, before moving to Norwalk, Ohio. Crane graduated from Western Reserve College and moved to Green Bay in 1849. Soon after, he opened a medical practice. During the American Civil War, he served as an officer in the 5th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. Following the war, he married Louise Desnoyers. Crane died from throat cancer on May 8, 1898.

Political career

Crane was mayor from 1874 to 1875 and again from 1877 to 1879. Additionally, he was president of the school board and a member of the board of health.
