Newcomer director, Vetrivel, stated the movie revolves around a prisoner awaiting execution and Kishore plays the lead in it, with Ashok and Vasundhara Kashyap playing journalists in the film. Kashyap made a comeback through the film, after taking a sabbatical. Madhumitha, playing a social activist, revealed she based portrayal around activist Arundhati Roy and attempted to base her body language on Roy's actions. The film began production in mid-2015 and scenes were predominantly shot across Chennai.
