The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is a rail trail in Massachusetts. On August 29, 2009, the first 6.8-mile (10.9 km) segment opened in Lowell (starting at Cross Point Towers), Chelmsford, and Westford (ending at Route 225).

Contents

A second 13.1-mile (21.1 km) segment is planned to pass through Westford, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, and Sudbury. A third 4.6-mile (7.4 km) segment is planned to pass through Sudbury and Framingham, which would make the total length of the trail almost 25 miles (40 km).

The path is a 10-foot-wide (3.0 m) paved multi-use trail, available for walking, running, biking, rollerblading, and other non-motorized uses. It follows the right-of-way of the disused Framingham and Lowell Line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The constructed route connects with the Bay Circuit Trail, and phase 2 would connect with the Central Massachusetts Rail Trail.
