  • Senior Academy

In mid-2008, the construction of a "senior academy" commenced. The Senior Academy opened its door in August 2009, and the Class of 2010 was the first class to graduate. The primary reason for this addition was due to the space constraints in the current school building. The Senior Academy was developed to enhance student involvement and leadership. The Academy was also developed to foster 21st Century skills to the students. All seniors enrolled at the Senior Academy have school-provided laptops, and their own cafeteria. The Senior Academy is considered the most modern portion of Brownsburg High School, with modern projectors, wireless whiteboards, conference rooms, fully equipped computer labs and portable teaching computer stations.

    Student leadership

With the development of the brand-new Senior Academy in 2010 the School Board ordered for a reformed, more-involved student government to be formed at the high school. A committee of students and teachers called the Senior Academy Student Advisors formed the CHAIN Link Student Government. CHAIN is an acronym standing for Compassion, Honesty, Accountability, Integrity, and Now. CHAIN Link is the largest school club with about 10% of the 2400 students involved among the three branches (Executive Board, Senate, and House).

The Executive Board encompasses the President and the President's Advisors. The Senate encompasses the 16 traditional class officers - 4 class officers from each class. The CHAIN Link Vice President is also the Vice President of Senate; however, the power to direct the Senate lies in the office of the Directing Officer of the Senate who is Senior Class President. The House encompasses all club presidents, reaching a higher variety of representation. The House is led by the Vice President of the House, the Judiciary Committee Chair, and four House Class Leaders.
