Brijesh Pathak's journey began in the town of Mallawan in Central Uttar Pradesh Hardoi district. Born on 25 June 1964, Brajesh Pathak is the 5th among the 7 children of Kamla and Suresh Pathak. Brajesh Pathak’s childhood was one of immense struggle and difficulty. Yet, these hardships did not deter Brajesh Pathak. He remained a devoted student, always eager to learn something new. From his younger days, Brajesh Pathak was drawn towards serving the society. It was his passion to serve that drew Brajesh Pathak to the Lucknow University Student Union. As a youngster, Brajesh Pathak participated in the LUSU election in 1988-1990, which was a strong social movement to uplift students of backward category. Brajesh Pathak made a distinguished mark due to his organisational & leadership skills during lathi-charge on Basantotsav in 1987 for the students of backward category. He was also jailed during the Emergency imposed in consequence of that incident. He was elected as Vice President LUSU in 1989 & President in 1990. His exposure to politics in students life brought him forward and he fought UP State assembly election in the year of 2002 & faced a defeat with the minor difference of 130 votes.

On 9 September 2015, he and other state BSP leaders argued with police over the murder of the leader of the Unnao BSP chapter, Aditya Lodhi, arguing that the police did not act fast enough to stop his murder despite a complaint.
