Plot
In 1957 Bronx, Charlie Williams (Garland Whitt), the 18-year-old son of a Black NYPD policeman Charles Williams Sr. (Charles S. Dutton) is arrested for the murder of an Irish youth in Van Cortland Park. Charles' younger brother John (Courtney B. Vance), a respected lawyer defends Charlie and soon discovers there is more to the case than what appears on the surface.

Dutton was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male for his role in the film, and Vance was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead. The film itself was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay.
