Short biography

Bikash Bhattacharya hails from the Kalighat region of Kolkata. He joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist) as a student. He is a lawyer by profession. He took over the reins of Kolkata from the outgoing Mayor Subroto Mukherjee of Trinamool Congress party. He was appointed Advocate General, Tripura for 5 years.
