The Bay Area Climate Collaborative (BACC) is a 501(c)3 initiative of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group through its Sustainable Valley Foundation. The mayors of San Francisco (Gavin Newsom), San Jose (Chuck Reed) and Oakland (Ron Dellums), launched the BACC with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and business and civic leaders to accelerate the clean energy market, enabling a healthy, safe and globally competitive Bay Area. The BACC includes a 10-point action plan including advancing solar energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and green jobs. The BACC is dedicated to providing leadership to the region for making the local clean energy economy a reality.

History
The Bay Area Climate Collaborative was initiated March 6, 2009 at the signing of the Bay Area Climate Compact. The signing ceremony was held in Redwood City, CA at Silver Spring Networks, and was attended by leaders of local governments, agencies and businesses, as well as members of the press.

Compact
The Bay Area Climate Change Compact, signed by the Cities of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland, states the cities' commitment to creating a public-private identity that best serves the region and all of its municipalities, institutions and communities in helping to meet the state of California's goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (AB 32). The compact also stated their dedication to helping Bay Area communities prepare for and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
As of August 2010, 15 regional municipalities have signed the Bay Area Climate Change Compact.
Vision
The BACC's vision is to enable a healthy safe and globally competitive Bay Area through collaborative action on climate change. Its coordinated efforts from governments, businesses and NGOs, will be a model for regional action in California, the nation, and the world.
