Azogues ([aˈsoɣes]) is the capital of Azogues Canton and of Cañar Province in Ecuador. The population of Azogues is 40,000.[1]

Azogues is part of Cuenca Metropolitan area (600,000 inhabitants) is known for its Panama hat industry; the hats are produced primarily for export. The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Azogues
