Ashley Lobo is an Indian choreographer and was also one of the three judges for the Indian reality dance talent show India's Dancing Superstar on Star Plus. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy.

Early life and training

Ashley Lobo’s involvement in theatre and dance was the inevitable result of being brought up in a very artistic environment. His mother, Celia Lobo, is an opera singer and theatre personality.

While growing up in Chembur, he worked with directors and choreographers like Alyque Padamsee, Krishna Bhargava, Celia Lobo, Karla Singh, Salome Roy Kapoor and others, in several productions like Best of Broadway, Grease, Cascades, They’re Playing Our Song, Cabaret, Evita, etc.

He moved to Sydney, Australia in 1989. There he studied dance at the Bodenweiser Dance Centre (under the late Margaret Chapple) and the much-reputed Sydney Dance Company.
Ashley has trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary styles of dance for over 5 years and performed in several musicals in Australia. Theatrical works overseas include: The Nutcracker (Ballet Theatre Queensland, Brisbane), The Wiz (Barre Theatre Co., Sydney) and West Side Story (Barre Theatre Co., Sydney). He also did television and promotional work with numerous international stars like Peter Andre, Dannii Minogue, and Teen Queens while studying in Australia.
Career
Ashley made his television debut as a host in the dance fitness segment on Good Morning India, a daily show on Star Plus which ran for over 250 episodes.
Ashley has also been a member of the guest teacher faculties of the National School of Drama and Barry John’s IMAGO School of Theatre Studies.
