Description

In slugs it is often difficult to establish good criteria for identifying species using external features, as the colouration can be quite variable, and the rather plastic anatomy makes diagnostic anatomical features difficult to establish.

This is an up to 50 mm. long, roundback slug. The colour is usually yellowish or brownish. Dark lateral bands run relatively deeply at the sides and the pneumostome is usually enclosed by right-side band. The first row of tubercles above the foot-fringe is slightly lighter but not as white as in Arion hortensis. The head and tentacles are dark bluish grey without a reddish hue. The sole is light yellow.
Distribution
This species is native to Central Europe.
