Bethke was born to a German father and a Chilean mother, but grew up in Mexico. Although he was born on the African continent, Bethke considers himself Hispanic since that is where he grew up. He described himself as being made of "chile, mole and pasilla pepper" ([1]).

Bethke is most remembered for his role of "Chacho" in the telenovela Clase 406. In 2007 he appeared in the Ugly Betty episode "A Tree Grows in Guadalajara as Antonio Barreiro, a cafe waiter who tried to sweet talk Hilda Suarez, and after meeting her father Ignacio, was the one who tipped off a contact who was waiting for Ignacio's return to Mexico.

Bethke also starred in "Tierra de pasiones", and in Madre Luna as Demetrio Aguirre. He is also one of the main characters in Doña Bárbara (Telemundo series), playing the role of "Antonio Sandoval"."

Bethke has also guest-starred on the 1st season of RBD: La Familia as "Alvaro"; Dulce Maria's new hot conquest, on episode 3 "El Que Quiera Azul Celeste... Que Se Acueste!". His cast members were Alfonso Herrera, Anahi, Dulce Maria, Christopher Uckermann, Maite Perroni, & Christian Chávez, the stars of the show and the members of the famous popular Latin pop band RBD from Mexico city.

Bethke has been living in Colombia since 2005.

Personal life

Bethke dated the Mexican actress and model, Ivonne Montero they met at Telemundo's event in Miami. Bethke went to Colombia after they separated then he met with the Colombian actress and model, María Fernanda Yépez. The relationship with Yepes marked Bethke's life, they had been dating for 4 years. Yepes confessed that Bethke who ended up their relationship in 2011. After finishing his project with Telemundo in Colombia, Bethke came back to Mexico and worked with Azteca where he met with the Mexican actress, Carolina Miranda. The relationship only lasted for a short time.

In 2014, Bethke welcomed his first child, Paloma with the Colombian actress, Isabella Cordoba. Although they have separated, they keep maintaining their friendship and Bethke visits Colombia whenever he can. In 2015, there were rumors and photos of Bethke dating the Mexican actress and model, Begoña Narváez, but they never confirmed it. After finishing some projects with Azteca, Bethke worked again with Telemundo in Miami. In 2016, Bethke was dating the Venezuelan actress, model, and host, Gaby Espino. Their first photo together was seen on October 2015, they were having dinner with some friends. They tried to maintain it private, but then there were photos of them kissing all over social media and a video where Espino was attending Bethke's birthday party on March 2016. After that they went public with their relationship. After shooting Señora Acero: La Coyote Espino went back to Miami and Bethke in Mexico shooting La Piloto. However their long distance relationship didn't work that long. The last time they were seen together was on October 2016 in Mexico. Currently, Bethke is dating a Californian actress and producer, Ivana de Maria who works in the same project with Bethke in La Piloto.
