Antonia García was born in the working a class district of Cádiz (Spain), the eldest of a family of three children. She always wished for a career as an actress, a fact which remained secret for a while. Although her parents supported her talent, they did not want it to become her career. Her style has influenced many female tango singers from Argentina. For her work as a recording artist, García was inducted into the Paseo de las Luminarias in Cuba City. Her son, Salvador Videgain, was also an actor, director and singer.
