Location

Ambilad is 24 km from the district headquarters, Kannur. It is in Kuthuparamba municipality.

Temples

Thiruvancheri Kaavu(Sri Vazhumcheri Kavu) and Neicherikandy are the main attractions of South Ambilad. Theyyam, the annual festival of God Muthappan being celebrated at Neycherikandi. (The Theyyam or Theyyattam is a popular ritual dance of north Kerala.)

Schools

Ambilad south LP School (A.S.L.P.S) is situated at the south of the village. Established in 1918 by Chovva Koran Master. National chess player Sri C.P. Chandu Nair was the Head Master of A.S.L.P.S.

Transportation

The national highway passes through Kannur town. Goa and Mumbai can be accessed on the northern side and Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram can be accessed on the southern side. The road to the east of Iritty connects to Mysore and Bangalore. The nearest railway station is Kannur on Mangalore-Palakkad line. Trains are available to almost all parts of India subject to advance booking over the internet. There are airports at Mattanur, Mangalore and Calicut. All of them are international airports but direct flights are available only to Middle Eastern countries.
