Ali Banisadr is an Iranian-born artist living in New York City. He grew up in Tehran, in Iran. When he was twelve, his family moved to San Diego, in the United States. He moved to New York in 2000, where he studied for a BFA at the School of Visual Arts, and for an MFA at the New York Academy of Art. He works primarily in oil painting, but also does some mixed media work. Banisadr was ranked #1 in Flash Art's Top 100 Artists of 2011.

The work of Ali Banisadr is greatly influenced by his childhood memories of growing up in Tehran, Iran during the Iran-Iraq war and the Islamic Revolution. His paintings, much like the work of Hieronymus Bosch and other figurative artists whom he is often compared to, evolve around dynamism and conflict. Banisadr who since a young age has experience synthesia, paintings imbue a sense of sound and vitriol.
