Abdel Nasser Tawfik (Arabic: عبدالناصر توفيق) (* June 22, 1967, in Bani Ammar-Tahta, Sohag, Egypt) has been graduated from Assiut University in 1989, where he also completed his Master Degree (M.Sc) in Theoretical Physics before his change to the University of Marburg (German: Philipps-Univertsität zu Marburg), Germany for the Dr.rer.Nat. (Ph.D.) in High Energy Physics. In 2012 Professor Tawfik earned his Doctor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics at the Uzbekistan National University.
Tawfik is the Founder Director of the Egyptian Center For Theoretical Physics (ECTP), Professor of Physics at the Modern University for Technology and Information (MTI), Spokesperson of the Federation for Egyptian Particle Scientists (FEPS) and Deputy-Director of the Egyptian Network of High-Energy Physics (ENHEP), an Associate of the Nuclear Physics Institute of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. Tawfik is the Team Leader of Egyptian Scientists joining the ALICE A Large Ion Collider Experiment at LHC and Research Director at the "ICSC - World Laboratory" in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1998, Tawfik was awarded with the DAAD-prize for “Hervorragende Leistungen ausländischer Studierender an den deutschen Hochschulen". At the 23rd General Meeting of TWAS held in Tianjin, China, on 18 September 2012, Dr. Tawfik has been elected as Fellow of TWAS. Dr. Tawfik is the author of two titles. He published about 73 research papers in leading journals. Furthermore, Dr. Tawfik is serving as supervisor of couple tens PhD and Master theses at various Egyptian Universities.
Professor Tawfik worked at numerous universities and research institutions including Fraunhofer Society, German Space Agency, University of Marburg, University of Trier, University of Stuttgart and University of Bielefeld. He also joined Hiroshima University in 2005-2006. D.Sc. Tawfik is the Founder Director of the World Laboratory for Cosmology And Particle Physics (WLCAPP), Cairo, Egypt.
A complete list of the published papers is to be found in INSPIRE-HEP.
Dr. Tawfik has published various articles in newspapers and magazines on a wide range of public issues, and public lectures on science and its different impacts with the aim to improve the rate and quality of development in Egypt.
Dr. Tawfik introduced numerical simulations for lattice field theory to Egypt. For these techniques, one needs powerful computing facilities and effective numerical algorithms. Their results should greatly impact our understanding of matter under extreme conditions, including the phase transitions and the early universe. The evolution equations of various cosmological parameters in the background QCD matter in early universe are subjects of his recent papers.TWAS council member for the period from 2016 until 2018

Tawfik's major scientific accomplishments are the viscous early Universe and acceleration mechanisms for ultra high energy cosmic rays (UHECR). Tawfik's Achievements to the physical sciences include mapping up the Quantum Chromodynamics phase diagram, mapping up the chemical freeze-out curve, determining the quantum entropy of quark matter, and localizing the quantum phase transition.TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF QUARK-GLUON PLASMA: Implications on Early Universe, Lambert Academic Publishing, Saarbruecken-Germany 2012, 269 Pages, ISBN 978-3-659-14955-9

Recently, Dr. Tawfik has started to provide seminars about various scientific issues, at El-Sawy Culture Wheel in Egypt. He aims to simplify scientific issues for public and to find connection between the science and religion. Dr. Tawfik is the Spokesman of the Federation of the Egyptian Particle Scientists. FEPS is a founding member of the Egyptian Alliance for Conserving the Creativity.
Dr. Tawfik is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics (IJTMP), Journal of Particle Physics Insights and Transactions of Theoretical Physics.
