A. P. Jayasuriya ( 1 November 1897 – 28 August 1980) was Sri Lankan politician. He was a former Cabinet Minister of Health, Senator & Member of Parliament. He was one of the founders of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

Jayasuriya was educated at Royal College, Colombo

Political career

Jayasuriya entered State Council of Ceylon thereafter he was elected to the first parliament of independence for the seat of Horana and was serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Posts & Telecommunications in 1951 he crossed over to the opposition with S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike to form the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. In 1956 he elected by Senate and appointed as Minister of Home Affairs by Prime Minister S W R D Bandaranaike. In 1959 after assassinating P.M.Bandaranaike he was appointed as Minister of Health by W Dhanayake then Prime Minister. In 1960 July Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike has appointed him Minister of Health too.In 1970 He was appointed Leader of the Senate. And also he served Senior Vice President of S.L.F.P. till his death.
