Formation
The band arrived in the Indian rock scene about 35 years ago and it was originally known as 'People'. They started off as one of the first classic rock bands of India in the 70's.
Split
‘People’ which was a well known name in the 70’s had split when the four members decided to pursue their independent careers — after about 10 years of performing together. While Ronnie Desai and Babu Choudhary got into jingles and later went on to form a radio advertising production house of their own; Ranjit Barot ventured into Bollywood music and Hosi Nanji started working for a steel company.
Musical Return
About 20 years after the band’s split, the disbanded members reunited in 2010 with a new name - 4 Tune Kookies After their 1st video “I Don’t Need” band member Ranjit Barot signed on with another label and could not be a part of 4 Tune Kookies any more. Derick Gomes took over his place as the new drummer. The band has released two singles ‘I don’t need’ and ‘Bade Kompani’ so far. The single ‘I don’t need’ is an animated video with all four members appearing in animated avatars. The video has been produced by animation house ‘Infinite Post’ and directed by Krishnendu Roy(Rana) and Jai Dadlani. The video for their 2nd single ‘Bade Kompani’ has been directed by Naren Multani, who was also the head of jury at the Paris Short Film Festival in 2010.‘Bade Kompani’ addresses the plea of underpaid, overworked and dissatisfied employees and the revolt against oppressive corporate norms
