2016–17 Azadegan League will be the 16th season of Azadegan League since its establishment in 2001. The season featured 12 teams from the 2015–16 Azadegan League, three new teams relegated from the 2015–16 Persian Gulf Pro League: Malavan, Rah Ahan and Esteghlal Ahvaz and three new teams promoted from the 2nd Division 2015–16: Oxin Alborz as Group A champions and Sepidrood Rasht as Group B champions and Pars Jonoubi Jam as play-off winner. Baadraan Tehran replaced Parseh Tehran.
