Covid-19 The 1996–97 BCAFL was the 12th full season of the British Collegiate American Football League, organised by the British Students American Football Association.
There were three new teams, representing:
University of Derby, joining the Northern Conference
University of Kent, joining the Southern Conference
University of Nottingham, joining the Northern Conference
Stirling Clansmen returned after one season out, meaning the BCAFL now had 31 teams, an all-time high.
Sheffield Zulus moved within the Northern Conference from Central to Eastern Division.
Reading Knights moved within the Southern Conference from Eastern to Western Division.
