The 1987 Little League World Series took place between August 25 and August 29 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Hualien Little League from Hualien, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), defeated the United States Champion Northwood Little League of Irvine, California, in the championship game of the 41st Little League World Series.

  • Ryan Jones, of the Northwood team was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the second round of the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft. Alex Rodriguez was the first player taken in that draft.
  • At the time, Northwood was the first team ever to get to the Little League World Series from Orange County, California. The only team from Orange County to win it all was 2011 Little League World Series Champions Ocean View Little League of Huntington Beach, California.
  • Rolando Paulino, the namesake of the Little League team from Moca, was later embroiled in scandal after the 2001 Little League World Series when Danny Almonte, pitcher for the Bronx, New York, team was found to be over the age limit.
