  • Tony Armas led American League hitters with 43 home runs, 123 RBI, 77 extrabases and 339 total bases. Despite winning HRs and RBI titles, Armas finished 7th in the 1984 AL MVP ballots, joining Ted Williams as the second player to lead in those categories and not win the MVP honors (in 1942 and 1947).
