1977 is a Canadian indie pop band, whose core members are singer and songwriter Julie Kendall and instrumentalist Brent Hough.
Contents
First formed in 2004 after Kendall stumbled into songwriting while trying to teach herself the organ part to The Beach Boys' song "California Girls", the band released its self-titled debut album in 2009. The album was a shortlisted Juno Award nominee for Adult Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2010. They followed up with the EP So Is the Sea in 2011.
The band have announced a new album tentatively slated for release in 2015.
