The 1956-57 Turkish Federation Cup season was the first professional national football league in Turkey. The league was organized by the Turkish Football Federation, to pick a team that would represent Turkey in the 1957–58 European Cup, even if later Besiktas refused to play. 30 football clubs participated: 10 from İstanbul, 10 from İzmir, 8 from Ankara and 2 from Adana. These teams were put into 3 groups: İstanbul group, İzmir group and the Ankara group (The 2 teams from Adana were put into the Ankara group). The teams would play against each other. The top 2 teams from each group would then compete in the finals.
