Interview with Angel Salome, Brewers Catcher Prospect

Professional career

Salomé was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifth round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft as a catcher. He was called up to the majors for the first time on September 1, 2008, and made his debut two days later with a fly out as a pinch-hitter.

In May 2010, Salomé left the Triple-A Nashville Sounds to deal with an undisclosed mental issue. Though once a top catching prospect for Milwaukee, Salomé requested a change to the outfield which was granted, effectively ending his career as a catcher. He was released as a free agent following the 2010 season. On April 20, 2011 Salome was signed by the Seattle Mariners.
