Zulip is a chat and collaborative software created by Jessica McKellar and Tim Abbott in 2012. In 2014, the company was acquired by Dropbox. In September 2015, Dropbox licensed it with an open-sourced Apache license. It is intended to be an open-source alternative to Slack or HipChat.
