As later exposed, since the 1970s the entries were very frequently falsified by Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ). The poll lasted until 1991, prior to the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993. While in the initial edition of the pool 797 votes in total were received, the highest number registered in its almost thirty years long history surpassed 115,000.
Winners
Over the years, the categories were occasionally changed.

With twenty-two Zlatý slavík awards, Karel Gott is the most successful artist in the history of the poll, followed by Hana Zagorová who scored nine wins, and Naďa Urbánková with five awards.
