Zig Gauthier (born June 6, 1971) is an American television producer and former television executive. As a television programming executive, he worked at such companies as Fox Television Studios, NBC Universal’s Syfy Channel, Fox Sports Net and Game Show Network. As a freelance television producer, he has produced such television series as Auction Hunters for Spike TV, Ghost Hunters for Syfy Channel, Top Shot for History Channel, Spring Breaking Point for Travel Channel, Model Employee for VH1, R&B Divas Los Angeles for TV One Network, broadcast network series Utopia for Fox, the presentation for Spike TV's hit series Catch A Contractor, and Dancing with the Stars for ABC.

Childhood

Zig Gauthier was raised in Junction City, CA. He attended Junction City Elementary School (Grades K-8) and graduated there with a graduation class consisting of only 7 peers. Gauthier then attended Trinity High School and served as Student Body Vice President as a freshman. Zig later transferred schools, attending Oak Ridge High School during his sophomore year. Gauthier graduated 2nd in his class, serving as Co-Salutatorian for the class of 1989. Zig started living on his own during his junior year of high school at the age of 16.

Education

Zig attended and graduated from UCLA in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, he attended and graduated from Loyola Marymount University with an MBA in 1998.

Career

Zig served in multiple roles as an executive at various networks:

  • Fox Television Studios – oversaw FX hit scripted comedy series Howard Stern's Son of the Beach, among other shows.
  • NBC Universal's Syfy Channel – VP and co-head of Alternative Programming. Developed Scare Tactics and created Mad Mad House.
  • Fox Sports Net – VP Development.
  • Game Show Network – VP of Original Programming. Oversaw documentary series Anything To Win, launch of poker programming on Game Show Network, plus various other shows. Created and oversaw the Poker Royale franchise.
  • Red Varden Studios

    Zig launched Red Varden Studios – a television, film and digital content production company. During his tenure as President of Red Varden Studios, Zig also served as Executive Producer and Creator of the Cartoon Network series The Othersiders.
