History
Zawya was founded in 2000 in London by British-Iraqi investment banker Ihsan Jawad. In 2001, Dubai investment company Saffar Holding bought a 60% cut of Zawya. In 2006, the company moved to Dubai and started a partnership with Dow Jones Newswires.
In June 2012, Thomson Reuters acquired Zawya from Saffar Holding for $40 million dollars. In November 2015, Thomson Reuters announced the integration of Zawya Financial in its Eikon package.
