Avana signed an exclusive modeling contract with modeling agency IMG Models and soon appeared in various major campaigns, including a major billboard campaign by L'Oréal. She went on to appear in notable campaigns and commercials for Revlon, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Victoria's Secret, Estée Lauder, Nike, and Steve Madden, among others. She was a major campaign face for the Oscar De La Renta brand. On print she has made appearances in Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Lucky, Allure, Self, and GQ magazines.

Avana has also participated in New York, Milan, London, and Paris Fashion weeks, walking the runaway for designers Prada, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Versace and Vera Wang.

2016-present: music and other ventures

In 2006 Avana signed a contract at 16 years of age with the music executive Tommy Mottola and his company, Casablanca Records. The contract did not work out.

In late 2015, Avana signed a recording contract with Republic Records and began work on her debut album. The album was influenced by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, focusing on a throwback 90s R&B sound. The Single "Everywhere" was released to radio stations on April 4, while the album was released worldwide on May 13, 2016 to mostly positive reviews.

Avana has penned a tell-all memoir with publisher Simon & Schuster.
