Zafar Shah is an Indo-British businessman based in Dubai. He is the owner of the Grand Midwest chain of hotels in Dubai, with future projects in the making. He is looking to further expand his businesses by exploring the sporting industry.

Career
Zafar Shah started his career with the restaurant and hotel business. He owns restaurants like Indian Tandoori and Indian Village in Dublin. Hotel Capri was opened on one of the busiest streets of Dublin city with 54 bedrooms in 1995. Two more eateries followed, this time continental steakhouses under the name Zaps.
In the late 1990s, Shah tried his hand at real estate. In 2005, Zafar went to Dubai and experimented with a real estate company. He then set about achieving his long-term goal of owning a hotel chain. He found a property with 128 rooms in the Bur Dubai area, which he turned into hotel apartments. He left Ireland and shifted permanently to Dubai. He opened two more hotel apartments, all under the same name of Grand Midwest, which is now a famous hotel chain in Dubai.
Sponsor for sporting events
In addition to his hotel business, Shah has set up his own cricket team under the name Grand Midwest Royals. He also launched a cricket academy in Sharjah stadium under the name Grand Midwest Academy and sponsored many international cricketing matches and series in the UAE and abroad. For the Cricket World Cup in 2012, held in Sri Lanka, Grand Midwest was the official sponsor of the Afghanistan national team.
Association with Bollywood stars and events
Deviating from hotels in Dubai has also led him into the events side of things where he has done concerts for Bollywood stars, held charity events such as Being Human with Salman Khan, events with Jonny Lever, etc., musical concerts with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam and is one of the main sponsors for the Gr8 Women Awards from India which supports breast cancer in Dubai.
