Zack Torquato (born June 8, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing for SG Cortina of the Alps Hockey League (AlpsHL). Torquato was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 6th round (178th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Drafted 3rd overall in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection by the Saginaw Spirit, Torquato played five seasons (2005-2010) of major junior hockey, skating with both the Saginaw Spirit and the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. He also represented Canada at the 2007 IIHF World U18 Championships. Playing with the Erie Otters in 2009-10, Torquato registered 62 assists to set a new team individual player record for most assists in a single season.

Torquato made his professional debut in the American Hockey League, playing 11 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins during the 2008–09 season.

In his third year with the Wheeling Nailers in the 2013–14 season, Torquato was loaned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL for 18 games, posting 7 points.

On June 3, 2014, Torquato secured a contract abroad in signing a tentative one-year deal with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga. Unable to secure his contract in his try-out with Sparta, Torquato returned to the Nailers in signing a one-year deal on October 4, 2014.

On July 30, 2016, Torquato opted for a second attempt abroad, securing a one-year contract with Italian based, SG Cortina for the inaugural season in the Alps Hockey League.
