László Z. Karvalics (born Zalaegerszeg, December 23, 1961) is an associate professor of the history of sciences. The Budapest University of Technology and Information Society Research Institute (ITTK) founder-director (1998-2006) of the Budapest University of Technology Information and Knowledge Management Department Head (2005-2006), the University of Szeged Human Library and Information Science Department Head (2007- 2011). The [Information Society] magazine editor in chief (2001-2006). He is an internationally recognized researcher and science-organizer of the information society in theory and practice, information policy and strategy issues and information science, and internet economy. He is author of numerous studies and popular series, and popular presenter of professional conferences and events.

Biography
He was born in Zalaegerszeg in 1961. He graduated In 1986 at the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Humanities in Hungarian history. After anearly interest about press, books and cultural history research he turned to questions of the information society, information history, the human science of information, the internet and information- and knowledge management issues. He is married he has four children.
Studies
Between 1985 and 1988 he taught literature and history faculties at the Martos Flóra Gimnázium. Meanwhile, he started a trial with an integrated social science faculty at Veres Péter Gimnázium. He got honors degree in 1986 in literatur and history science at Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem. Between 1986 and 1989 he is a scholarship member of MTA TMB (Magyar Tudományos Akadémia Tudományos Minősítő Bizottság). Between 1985 and 1987 he was a member of consilium of Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem Egyetem. Between 1988 and 1989 he was a scholar of Soros Alapítvány. From 1989 he was a doctor of history. In 1995 he earned a Ph.D. in history science. From 2005 he was an habilitated doctor. In 2006 he won a Fulbright research scholarship at George Washington University, Center for International Science and Technology Policy (CISTP) Georgetown University.
