Biography

Yurushev was born on February 16, 1946 in Donetsk in the family of ethnic Greeks.

After leaving school he studied at the Institute, then went on to serve in the Army.

He began his career at the age of fourteen, working at a furniture factory in Donetsk.

After completing his military service, he worked in the construction of industrial plants in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

After the adoption of the 1988 law "On Cooperation in the USSR", he became the founder of a number of the first cooperatives in the USSR in the field of production of consumer goods.

In the early 90's, he became one of the first major Donbass entrepreneurs.

Since 1996, he has become a citizen of Greece.

From 1993 to 2005 he lived in Vienna (Austria) and engaged in the investment business in Europe.

Since 2005, together with his family resides and conducts business in Ukraine.

Business

The scope of business interests of Yurushev includes commercial property, woodworking, engineering, construction and production of building structures.

After the sale in 2007 of the bank "Forum" to the German "Commerzbank", Yurushev invested the proceeds in the construction of InterContinental and Fairmont hotels, and also in the creation of Korosten MDF plant and logistic center in the village Martusovka in Boryspil district of Kyiv region.

Since 2006, according to various Ukrainian business publications, Leonid Yurushev begins to appear in the rankings of the richest people of Ukraine.

Political activity

Has never been involved to the Communist Party and the Young Communist League.

According to some experts and journalists, he is one of the least public, but at the same time, the most influential Ukrainian businessmen.

The information appears repeatedly in the media that Leonid Yurushev invested Arseniy Yatsenyuk but Yurushev fundamentally denies this information, citing legal restrictions to participation of foreign citizens in the political life of Ukraine.

At the same time, Leonid Yurushev is a staunch supporter of the European choice and liberal-democratic Ukraine's development program.
