She is primarily known for her shōjo manga works on the magazines LaLa and LaLa DX, published by Hakusensha.

She began to seriously pursue her manga career starting in middle school. Her most successful work has been Natsume Yūjinchō, which has been made into six anime series in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2017. The manga has sold over 5 million copies by the sale of volume 12.

Natsume Yūjinchō was adapted into an anime television series spanning several years. The work was also licensed for distribution in the United States as Natsume's Book of Friends. In 2011, Hotarubi no Mori e was adapted into an anime film.
