YoubeQ was a multiplayer driving and flight simulator, and a communication platform that ran inside a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, or Google Chrome. It ran on a variety of operating systems including Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows. The simulator is no longer in development and has been removed from the web.

Contents

Developed in 2011, this simulator used the Web Graphics Library and Cesium virtual globe. The flight simulation component acted as a casual alternative to the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

One of its key features was the ability of users to choose any location on Earth to explore. The name YoubeQ was inspired by the word ubiquity, or the state of being everywhere at the same time. This name represents the vision of YoubeQ and the feature that distinguishes it from other communication platforms.

A project born inside iNovmapping LDA, YoubeQ is now the property of Maps With Life, S.A., an iNovmapping LDA spin-off. Currently YoubeQ is being incubated in the Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) – Association for Innovation and Development in Science and Technology at the University of Coimbra..

YoubeQ would also allow for people to drive cars, segways, helicopters, and many other drivable things.
