Yemeni passport

A Yemeni passport is a government document used by citizens of Yemen for international travel. Yemeni passports are issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the Ministry of the Interior, and by some Yemeni consulates and embassies around the world.

Contents

Yemeni passports are typically 42 pages long, and have a dark-blue cover inscribed with the Emblem of Yemen (and the word "Passport" in English and Arabic). As Arabic is a right-to-left script, the passport pages read from right to left.

The first page of the passport conveys identity information of the passport holder in Arabic as well as English. This includes:

  • Barcode
  • Codes for machine reading
  • On the left, there is a picture of the passport holder. The remaining pages are found in the instructions and include:

  • 1. Passports issued in the Republic of Yemen in the interest of Immigration and Naturalization and its subsidiaries and diplomatic missions and consulates accredited to the Republic abroad.
  • 2. The period of validity of this passport is six years from the date of issuance.
  • 3. The benefit of this passport to travel to all countries of the world.
  • 4. This passport contains 42 pages.
  • "Important Alert" This passport is an important document and should be maintained so as not to be left in the possession of another person not entitled to hold it. If loss or damage should occur, report it immediately to the point of issuance or the nearest Embassy belonging to the Republic of Yemen or confided to the authority of the accepted view of it, nor is issued alternative document only after extensive research and investigation. There is then the title page of the passport holder and his relatives who are in the Republic of Yemen to return to them when necessary.

    There in the fourth page of the passport registration and record reads as follows:

    Visa requirements

    In 2016, Yemeni citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 38 countries and territories. This ranked the Yemeni passport 97th in the world according to the Visa Restrictions Index.

    On 27 January 2017, United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting all refugee admissions from seven countries, including Yemen. This order is currently being upheld by the Supreme Court.
