Yantic Falls Historic District

Location

Yantic Street, Norwich, Connecticut

The Yantic Falls Historic District encompasses a historic mill and associated worker housing on Yantic Street in Norwich, Connecticut. The 10-acre (4.0 ha) area includes a complex of mill buildings built out of brick, ashlar granite, and concrete, arrayed along the Yantic River, and a group of three brick mill worker houses. The industrial history of the area began with a nail factory founded in 1813, and a paper mill established in 1818. Most of the mill privileges in the area were consolidated into a single company, the Falls Company, by the 1860s.

The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 28, 1972.
