Yannick Ruiz Gomes emigrated to Portugal when he was 4 years old and started playing for União de Coimbra when he was 7 years old. Yannick played in this club in all youth categories (during that time he could never move to Sporting and Benfica, big teams who wanted him very much, because portuguese youth teams had always a limit for foreign players in their squads, and Yannick did not have Portuguese nationality). During his youth career, Yannick also played one season for the Under-17s of the Associação Académica de Coimbra, and one season for the U-19 of Associação Naval 1o de Maio (Figueira da Foz city).
As a senior, Yannick played in Pampilhosa, Gândara and Sporting de Pombal before, in July 2010, moving to other countries to play, between 2010 and 2014, in three different countries (Germany, Luxembourg and Cyprus).
He returned to Portuguese football, in January 2015, to temporarily represent Penelense under a contract until May 2015.
In August 2015 Yannick signed for Associação Desportiva Nogueirense, based in Oliveira do Hospital, a team where he played for just two months. In January 2016 Yannick signed until the end of the season for A.D.R.C. Aguiar da Beira.
