Yanbara Dam (鷲ダム, Yanbara-damu) is a hydroelectric dam on the Itoshiro River, in the Fukui prefecture of Japan. It is one mile upriver of the confluence of the Itoshiro River and the larger Kuzuryu River.

History

In 1957, a hydroelectric power plant on the upstream portion of Kuzuryū was announced. The plan did not initially include the Yanbara Dam or using pumped-up water. This was later recommended by the Ministry of International Trade. The dam now uses pumped-up water to create a lower reservoir in order to generate power.
