Xia Heng

Henry Xia or Xia Heng (Chinese: 夏珩,born 07 Nov, 1983) is a Chinese entrepreneur. He co-founded the Chinese EV company Xiaopeng Motor.

Early years

Xia studied Automobile Engineering at Tsinghua University for 6 years and got his master's degree there. Prior to co-founding the Xiaopeng Motors, Henry served as the supervisor for the New Energy Vehicle Control Section at Guangzhou Automobile Group . He led the control system R&D for quite a few new energy vehicle and smart vehicle. He received multiple awards in research, innovation and management during his time at Guangzhou Automobile Group. Henry has published more than 10 research papers and patents about electric and smart vehicles. His expertise is not only in electric and smart vehicles control, but also in vehicle integration and project management. He got lots of experience in international collaboration as a resident engineer in Europe for many times.

Xiaopeng Motors

In 2014, Henry co-founded Xiaopeng Motors with a few vehicle experts and IT experts. Henry is tasked with the company’s strategic planning and product architecture design. The company initially focused on the research and development for the core technology of motors, battery, electronic control system and center display touch screen. Some of them were the former employees of Guangzhou Automobile, BMW, Lamborghini, BYD, ALi, Tencent, Huawei, and Samsung. In the past one and half year, dynamometer tests have been done and four test cars have been built to verify the core technology. Starting from June 2015, the company has started the styling and bodywork design and it is promised by the company that it would finish in late 2016 and the start production before the end of 2017.
