Xerez Deportivo Fútbol Club, also called simply as Xerez Deportivo or Xerez, is a Spanish football club located in Jerez de la Frontera. It was founded in 2013 by a group of fans concerned about the critical situation of Xerez CD. It plays in División de Honor, holding home matches at Estadio Municipal de Chapín, with an overall 22,000-seat capacity. The team colours are usually blue shirts and socks, with white shorts.

Foundation of Jerez FC
La Sociedad Jerez Foot-Ball Club was founded in 1907 (in 1911, according to other sources) by Sir Thomas Spencer Reiman, an English worker of the Williams & Humbert wineries. Thomas Spcencer Reiman born in a collier anchored in the Bay of Gibraltar on July 1, 1885. He worked in Williams & Humbert in Jerez de la Frontera looking for Spaniards and English men to found a football team. In 1911 the Sociedad Jerez Foot-Ball Club was inaugurated in a game against Cádiz CF. Initially their team colours were white shirt and black shorts, but shortly after changed to blue shirt and white shorts. Despite the existence of many football clubs, la Sociedad Jerez Foot-Ball Club became one of the most popular city. Few years later, the club absorbed Fortuna Foot-ball Club, one of the others clubs of Jerez.
In December 1932, former players and old fans of Jerez FC constitute Xerez Foot-ball Club, being formally legalized in December 1933 with José Manuel Domecq Rivero as president. The Football Field Villa Mercedes was designated as home field and Domecq Stadium construction was announced.
The new club in a few years reached the Tercera División to move up from here to the Segunda División in the 1935/36 season. The most important milestones of this team were to play twice the ascent phase to the Primera División and reach the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, where he was eliminated by Real Madrid.The arrival of the Civil War closed a path that seemed thrown into the First Division. The club disappeared on August 26, 1946 due to bad sport and economic performance that dragged years ago.
Xerez CD
From 1942 to 1947 the club had several names, ending with Jerez Club Deportivo, which was changed to the current name in 1960s. Xerez first reached the second division in 1953–54, remaining there for five years; previously, in the 1940s, the team had promoted on the field but, due to the "high national interest" of the dictatorial government, left its position to España de Tánger Football Club.
The team's new stadium, Estadio Municipal de Chapín, was inaugurated on 10 July 1988, replacing the old Estadio Domecq – the first match there was a friendly against Real Madrid. After decades in that category and also in the third, it had a 2001–02 second level campaign which almost resulted in an historic La Liga promotion, only one year after doing the same thing; the club seemed certain to gain promotion all season, but ultimately failed after a dramatic loss of form towards its closure, only gaining four points in the last eight matches.
Since then, Xerez finished in the top 10 in division two each campaign, except in the 2007–08 season when a weak start led to a 15th-place finish. The following campaign proved excellent, as the club was always in the top positions: on 13 June 2009, after beating SD Huesca 2–1 at home, it achieved promotion to the top division for the first time in its history. In the final day of the competition, a draw at Celta de Vigo proved enough for the title, as CD Tenerife lost 1–2 home to CD Castellón in the final minute.
The first season of Xerez in the top flight would be short-lived, as it ended in relegation. After only collecting seven points from the first 19 games – which led to the sacking of coach José Ángel Ziganda – the club amassed 27 in the remaining 19 with Néstor Gorosito as boss, not good enough however to prevent the drop as last (the club, however, had chances to stay up until the final round, a 1–1 draw at CA Osasuna).
Xerez ranked eighth and 14th in the two following second level seasons, respectively. The 2012–13 campaign, however, was disastrous on all levels, as the team finished in 22nd and last position as a direct consequence of enduring serious financial difficulties for several years, and the situation culminated with the club being relegated to the fourth division on 1 August.
After the Xerez's relegation, a bunch of supporters founded a new club in the lower leagues, named Xerez Deportivo FC due to the club's institutional problems. While the latter was promoted to Primera Provincial, the former was again relegated, this time to Primera Andaluza where it continues playing.
Refoundation of Xerez DFC
In June 2013, Joaquín Morales, chairman of Xerez CD, announced he was going to liquidate the club for economic reasons (the club had been in debt for years). A group of fans met and decided to form a new club to replace the old one, and on 28 June the new club, Xerez Deportivo FC, was inaugurated. Morales consequently decided to sell Xerez CD to Ricardo García, a businessman who had considered liquidating another city club, Jerez Industrial CF.
On 17 July 2013, The Salvemos al Xerez (Save Xerez) group held a special session, the Asamblea Xerecista (Assembly of Xerecistas), with club supporters voting to decide the question: "Está usted de acuerdo en que el Xerez Deportivo FC comience a competir en la temporada 2013/14?" (Do you agree that Xerez Deportivo FC should play in the 2013–14 season?) The vote resulted in a 75'79% majority voting 'yes' (for: 689; against: 201; abstentions: 10), and the new club started to play in the eighth national league.
With Sixto de la Calle as provisional president in its first season, the club obtained 5,865 subscribers, a record for a non-professional club. On 30 December 2013, José Ravelo was elected its new president. On 6 April 2014, Deportivo FC was promoted to the seventh national league and won 3–1 against CD Guadiaro.
In the summer of 2014, the assembly voted to create a futsal and a track team, and the club came to terms with the SD Jerez 93 futsal team and the Club Atletismo Chapín track team to include both as part of Xerez Deportivo FC.
The following season, the club acquired 4,102 subscribers and was able to attract players from higher categories. In early 2015, the board of directors decided to democratize the club and allow all members to attend assemblies and elect the president. On 22 February 2015, Xerez Deportivo FC was promoted to the sixth national league and won 6–0 against Espera CF. On 25 May 2015, Carlos Orúe resigned as coach due to disagreements with Pedro Ruiz (responsible of sports affairs) and some of the players. He was replaced by Daniel Pendín.
On 7 July 2015, it was disclosed that Xerez CD and Xerez Deportivo FC were negotiating to combine both clubs in one single club. The board of directors decided to convene an assembly on 23 July to make a decision. On 23 July, it's celebrated the Assembly in Alcazar of Jerez de la Frontera, where over 350 partners of Xerez Deportivo FC decided for the "Unification of xerecismo" (for: 317; against: 39; abstentions: 7). But finally the "Unification of xerecismo" is not carried out due to Xerez CD fans voted "no" (for: no data; against: 56; abstentions: 11).
On 17 August, the assembly decided to create a rugby team. Xerez Deportivo FC and Club Rugby Xerez, a rugby team founded in 1992, came to an collaboration agreement, so Club Rugby Xerez entered into sports club. Early in September, most of Xerez DFC fans show their discomfort with their board of directors and the Ayuntamiento de Jerez due to use of the Estadio Municipal de Chapín.
At the start of the new season, the club continued getting good results. In 2016 on Easter Sunday, Xerez Deportivo FC was promoted to the fifth national league to the win 2–0 against Puerto Real CF. On 25 may, the Asamblea de Socios approved reaching an agreement with Estella CD to be the reserve team of Xerez DFC. In summer 2016, the club ended the affiliation contract with the Atletismo Chapin and CRUXE.
The following season, the club acquired 3,300 subscribers. In the beginning, the team doesn't get good results and the coach, Dani Pendín, is relegated and remplaced for Antonio Sanchez Franzon, who gets turn around the results. Pedro Ruiz, the responsible of sports affairs, continue in the club despite the complaints from club's partners. Juan Carlos Ramírez is appointed Sports Director.
Stadium
Estadio Municipal de Chapín is a multi-purpose stadium in Jerez, Spain, currently used mostly for football matches, is the home ground of Xerez Deportivo FC. Built in 1988, the stadium holds 20,523 spectators.
In 2002 the stadium was remodeled to accommodate the 2002 FEI World Equestrian Games, the entire grandstand being covered with a roof; a hotel, spa, and gym were added to the complex as well.
Since his foundation in 1988 until 2015, it was the home ground of Xerez CD and since 2013, it's the home ground of Xerez Deportivo FC.
Shield
The official shield is exactly the same as the old coat of arms of the city of Jerez de la Frontera. It is surrounded by a circle with the name Xerez Deportivo FC and there is a ball in the middle.
The first year, the club members voted for the shield that it would represent the club. The result was a very similar shield to the shield of Xerez CD, and the club had to change his shield for the Coat of arms of the city of Jerez. Currently, the club is waiting the liquidation of Xerez CD to get his old shield.
