Xawela is a village in Greater Giyani Local Municipality in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The village was founded in the early 1960s by the homeland or bantustan system under the homeland of Gazankulu. There is 2 sections in Shawela, and three community leaders. Mahumani ville and main Shawela are the sections found in Shawela. Mahumani ville is leaded by Ndhuna Makhongele and main shawela have two leadera known as Ndhuna Manganyi and Ndhuna Cuma.

Education
There are three schools in Shawela, namely Baleni Primary School (1960s); Khwezu Primary School (1993); and Mukula High School.
Sports
Shawela United is the biggest team in the area. They make use of JB Chauke Stadium for their home ground matches. In 2012, Shawela United were crowned champions of the tournament of the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
