  • Consolidation

In early 2012, Superintendent Dr. Thomas Reeder proposed to the Wyoming Public Schools Board of Education that they vote to consolidate Wyoming Park High School and Rogers High School, with reasons based around the fact that the district could no longer financially support the operation of two high schools if it aimed to continually preserve academic and extracurricular offerings and avoid a severe layoff of staff. Through a series of public forums and a community survey, district administration and board members received input from the public on their opinions as to what should or should not happen.

On March 12, 2012, the board voted in favor of 4-3 to consolidate the district. It was determined that Wyoming Park High School would be renamed Wyoming Junior High School and would serve students in grades 7th - 9th. Rogers High School would become the district's only high school, renamed Wyoming High School, and serve students in grades 10th - 12th. Newhall Middle School would be the new home of additional district programs, but would no longer continue to function as an academic building.

Several accolades and trophies from the athletic and music programs were gathered by the district and were slated to become part of a new digital display honoring the history of the school and of Wyoming Park High School.
