Background

The practice is strongly committed to sustainability and civic renewal. The interplay between public and private space is also a recurring theme in its work, much of which takes place on historic sites involving listed buildings where it is known for its sensitive contemporary designs. Its buildings are noted for their use of high quality traditional materials like oak, brick, stone, copper and bronze.

Clare Wright was the Design Manager at Circle 33 Housing Trust before co-founding Wright & Wright. She has been RIBA Vice-President and sits on the English Heritage/CABE Urban and Design Review Panels, responsible for advising CABE on Crossrail. She was awarded an MBE for her services to architecture.

Earlier work by Sandy Wright includes Robinson College in Cambridge and the library at Wadham College, Oxford both with Gillespie, Kidd & Coia. Blue Boar Court at Trinity College, Cambridge and work on Worcester College, Oxford were both undertaken while he was a partner at MacCormac Jamieson Prichard & Wright.
